Buffalo Sabres x SprintAI
A GM who co-designed his own AI tool.
The Sabres bring SprintAI's agentic AI platform into hockey operations, connecting on-ice performance data, organizational workflows and front-office intelligence. The initial roadmap covers player performance and operations; development priorities are set jointly and the club's proprietary data stays protected. The GM Module was developed with general manager Jarmo Kekäläinen, who advised SprintAI before joining the club.
Why it matters
This is the first NHL team to put an AI company inside hockey operations rather than marketing. The GM's dual role, first adviser to the vendor and then its client, is a conflict of interest the announcement does not address. What exists today is a roadmap with one named module and no adoption metrics.
