LALIGA launched Smart Insights, developed with Sportian (the LALIGA + Globant tech joint venture), an AI system that analyses matches in real time and automatically generates broadcast narratives by comparing live situations with historical events from the league. Three specialised models: Goal Similarity Model — identifies historical goals with over 90% similarity in position, shot type and tactical context, within less than a minute of the action; Match Dynamics Model — compares live aggregate metrics with historically similar matches; a third situational context model activated at predefined moments. Output delivered to commentators via encrypted Telegram channels. Debuted in the LaLiga Hypermotion Playoffs semifinals; rollout to LaLiga EA Sports planned for 2026-27.

Smart Insights takes a different step: it does not generate text from a template, but builds automatic historical comparisons within less than a minute of the event. The commentator receives the insight before looking for it. The question is not the quality of the text — it is who controls the historical reference selection. When an AI system decides a goal today resembles a goal from the past by 90%, it is making a narrative and editorial choice. Sportian is the LALIGA + Globant joint venture — the same Globant behind Riot Games (Issue #1). The same tech architecture expands from esports into football broadcast.
